Dr. Carey A. Patrick is Board Certified in Therapeutic Optometry by the American Board of Optometry. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston and her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an active volunteer in both her community and in her profession. Dr. Patrick is currently serving on the Texas Optometry Board, a position of public trust to which Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed her in 2015. In this position, Dr. Patrick protects the public and guides doctors of optometry in the ethical performance of their duties and responsibilities as healthcare providers. Dr. Patrick has served the profession of optometry by appointment to the Third Party Executive Committee of the American Optometric Association whose mission is coordinating and negotiating professional optometrists’ participation in medical insurance, state-funded insurance,
and private insurance programs. She has also served as Director of the Texas Optometric Association, as Chair of the Texas Third Party Committee, Chair of the Texas Public Health Committee and is past- President of the Northeast Texas Optometric Society. She is active in the American Optometric Association, Pediatric and Binocular Vision Council, the AOA Cornea and Contact Lens Specialty Section and the Ocular Nutrition Society.
